Sikurico stepped out onto the lawn from his place in the police car. Today he was reassigned to live with his second cousin, Kairi Houshi. Snow was falling gently onto the leave covered ground. The policeman turned the engine off and Wynter hopped out after him. His eye was covered with a white bandage, having had been distorted by the blade his aunt had wielded against him. Wynter had whined quietly, the new house looming in front of him.
Sikurico leaned back in his bedroom chair. It had been a little over four years since he had come to live with Kairi. He was enrolled at a public magick school, but he commonly skipped, disliking the public. Wynter was sleeping on the floor next to Sikurico, they in front of the fire place. Sikurico sighed, looking towards the window to see the snow once again falling. He leaned over and ruffled Wynter's fur, who yawned and stretched, and sat up to greet her friend with a lick on the hand. "Come on girl, let's go outside and greet the winter that is so eternal." He stood up and walked over to the coat rack, pulling a black trench coat off the hook. He put it on as someone would put on a cape. He tied the sash at the waist, but didn't even bother to button up before heading outside with Wynter.

Kairi saw him head out, and she sighed. He had always been so quiet since he'd been hurt by their aunt...she shook it off, remembering her other cousin. She shuddered. "Stupid spoiled brat..." she mumbled at the memory of her cousin. She was bent over a notebook, writing another story, as she always did when she had some free time. She looked up and saw the snow, and smiled. It was nice when it snowed....it meant she didn't have to go to school and sit through Math...she laughed at the thought of her math teacher sitting in front of the fire grading papers. To her, it was funny. To others, it might seem "normal". She sighed again, and went back to writing.

Wynter jumped around in the snow, still excited as if she were still a pup, but she was indeed lapsing into old age. Sikurico had always been a distant one, even before he stepped foot in the house. Having always been mistreated caused him to be as cold as the ice he could subcontiously manipulate. He would occasionally laugh or be friendly towards Kairi and co, but he never really would let the ice in his heart melt, or the scars on his mind dissapear.

Kairi set her notebook aside. She needed to draw. She needed to clear her head. What most people didn't know was that she had once cut herself, but she had long since stopped. She sighed, and took out the manga that she had been drawing that last few weeks, in an attempt to finish it.

Sikurico, unlike Kairi, had cut marks up and down his arms. He commonly would use anything to cut when bored, to amuse himself, or to relieve himself of stress. The only time they could not be seen is when hidden behind the veil of clothing. Sikurico stared at the ground for a moment, and the spot where he looked suddenly began to bloom with an icey life like rose.

Kairi sighed. She couldn't concentrate. She unconciously rubbed her wrist, where she knew there were scars, but faint ones. She stood up, and went over to a piano that sat in the corner of the room. It was black with intricate red designs all over it. She lifted the ebony key cover, and ran her fingers over the ivory keys. She then sat down, and began to play, just like she had for the past 3 years.

Sikurico plucked the flower from its spot and glanced up to Kairi's window, where the sound of music flowed from. He looked down at the flower than to his dog. "Come Wynter," he said, and headed inside, and up to Kairi's room. He rapped on the door with his knuckles.

Kairi looked up, and called, "Come in Sikurico." softly. Her fingers sat on the keys, not making another sound as she waited for him to enter her room.

He opened the door and walked over to her, Wynter trotting behind him. He held out the ice flower to her. "I had nothing else to do with it, do you want it?"

Kairi smiled, and took it from his hand. "Thanks Sikurico-san." she said softly. "Are you alright?" she then asked him quietly, wanting to make sure he was happier here than he had been at their aunt's house.

"What kind of question is that?" Sikurico said bluntly. He didn't like being asked how he felt. Even after four years of living with his second cousin, he was still blunt, cold, and distant, even though he had hardly a reason to be.

"i just want to make sure you're happy here, Sikurico-san..." she said softly, setting the ice rose in a small crystal vase and placing it on her piano's top. "I don't want to be making you feel unwelcome or unhappy here."

"Compared to my other homes, you have been so curtious, I don't deserve it. You don't have to try so hard, Kairi."

"I guess I've just always been this way....i don't TRY to be...but I always am..." she sighed lightly. "And don't say you don't deserve it. You do. You really do, Sikurico-san." she stood up from the piano and walked over to the door. "Hey, do you want something to eat? I'm gonna go cook something. You're welcome to come with me if ya want to."

His stomache growled and he looked away. He was one of those kids who rarely ate. "Um.. sure.." He said, looking to the far wall.
